Goodnight, Warsaw. Sleep tight.

Don’t go dropping those dreams in the river below,

you’ve got too much pride, I know.

I was on TVP2 recently.

Apparently, “Anderson Cooper” lost his stuff on the air talking about “Dyngus Day” in Buffalo, New York. Poles are funny!

And yet, Poland was insulted. I had to set them straight, by explaining that Mr. Cooper, despite surviving an attack by a mob of Egyptian protesters, can’t handle the word “dingus” and “pussywillow” in the same sentence.

For the record, the day after Easter is traditionally a brilliant semi-holiday of spring rejuvenation and rebirth. Boys chase girls around with buckets of water and splash them, firefighters set up water guns and spray passers-by. It’s all in good, if annoying, fun.

So, the Polish American tradition of Polka dancing (unheard of here), drinking too much beer (less unheard of) and basically acting like it’s St. Patrick’s day for Poles is… a Polish American tradition.

Oh! How many hours I spent working with this audio. I took a section, EQ’d, pulled out hum… etc. and then decided I could make it work.

But! The tape turned at different speeds throughout. Hum frequencies would drift. It became a white whale for me.

Glad to see it’s found a home… enjoy!
